Bone Marrow Aspirate (BMA)

Bone marrow has a high concentration of regenerative (stem) cells, which likely accounts for high success in joint injections. A small amount of bone marrow is taken from the patient’s pelvis, then, under ultrasound guidance, injected into the involved joint. Prior to taking the marrow, the patient will receive a local anesthetic as well as oral pain medicine to make the procedure more comfortable. This option is performed in our office, is very safe, and has excellent results in our patients.
