Ramon Ylanan, M.D.


Ramon Ylanan, M.D. is primary care sports medicine physician who joined AOS in May 2012. He is graduate of University of Virginia and completed his family residency at the University of Missouri and his sports medicine residency at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Ylanan has spent three and a half years at the University of South Carolina where he was an assistant professor and served as a primary care physician and team physician for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He has served as an Arkansas Razorback physician since 2012. Dr. Ylanan provides comprehensive sports medicine care for athletes, and specializes in non-operative management of musculoskeletal injuries, concussions (ImPACT certified) and provides a range of soft tissue injections.

Dr. Ylanan is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both family medicine and sports medicine. He currently provides sports medicine coverage as the team physician for Shiloh Christian School, the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and the HogEye Marathon. He has worked closely with more than a dozen teams since 2006 and is very active in his community and generously donates his time to provide physicals for athletes of Shiloh Christian School, Springdale, Arkansas district athletes and athletes of Farmington, Arkansas. Additionally, Dr. Ylanan has volunteered his time for multiple committees in recent years and even served as a monthly speaker on a call-in radio talk show on sports medicine.

Dr. Ylanan has given more than 40 professional presentations too numerous to list, but he never misses an occasion to lecture in Arkansas at events such as: the Razor Fitness Winter Sports Medicine Symposium, Arkansas Athletic Trainers Associating Annual Meeting and Symposium and the University of Medical Sciences, plus many more.

Dr. Ylanan oversees post-graduate level medical education and graduate medical education courses at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS) and has years of experience at other institutions. He also produced two publications: Fracture, Tibial Plateau and Trochanteric Bursa Injections.

He is married to Melissa Ylanan, and has two children, AJ and Mia.
