Dr. Yakin has been in private practice in West Tennessee since 1997 where he settled after completing his orthopaedic training. During his time in Jackson, Tennessee he was team physician for the Seattle Mariners baseball team, University of Tennessee at Martin, Freed Hardemann University as well as several local high schools.
He is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and obtained his undergraduate degree from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Hahnemann University Medical School in Philadelphia.
Dr. Yakin completed his internship in general surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania.
While in practice in Tennessee, Dr. Yakin served as a professor for the Sports, Orthopaedics and Spine Sports Medicine fellowship program as well a clinical instructor for the Bethel University Physician Assistant program. He was an orthopaedic instructor for the University of Tennessee Family Medicine Program.
Dr. David Yakin relocated to Fayetteville to join Advanced Orthopaedics in July 2016 where he serves as a team physician of the University of Arkansas in addition to his private practice.
Dr. Yakin is double-board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in orthopaedic surgery and orthpaedic sports medicine.
Dr. Yakin is a member of the following: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Southern Orthopaedic Society and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
He spends numerous hours in continuing education to stay abreast of the latest techniques and trends in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine.
He and his wife Peggy reside in Fayetteville with their two children, Caroline and Andrew.
Dr. Yakin is an avid snow skier, wine enthusiast and enjoys poker in his spare time.
